Dar es Salaam. Young Africans SC (Yanga) have announced the departure of their head coach, Nasreddine Nabi.

The coach and the club have parted ways by mutual consent after the Tunisian requested not to renew his contract, the CAFCC finalists said in a statement issued on Wednesday night.

"Yanga management would like to inform the public that the club has reached an agreement to part ways with head coach Nasreddine Nabi on mutual agreement," reads the statement.

The statement adds that Nabi informed the club that he was not willing to extend his contract as he seeks a new challenge elsewhere.

The club made an approach and hoped to extend the coach’s deal, but the Premier League-winning tactician requested to leave Yanga.

"After the expiry of the contract, the club met with coach Nabi with the hope of extending the deal, but he requested to leave in order to face a new challenge,"

"Young Africans Sports Club would like to thank Coach Nabi for his contribution during his spell at our club and would like to wish him all the best in his journey," the club added.

While he was Yanga’s head coach, Nabi guided the club to lift two NBC Premier League titles, two Azam Sports Federation Cups (ASFC) and two community shields.

Also, the Tunisian tactician led the Jangwani side to reach the CAF Confederation Cup (CAF-CC) final for the first time.

Nabi leaves the club amid reports linking him with South African side, Kaizer Chiefs, while other reports indicate he has offers from Saudi Arabia.

Yanga has kicked off the process of recruiting a new coach who is going to succeed Nabi.
