Diamond Platnumz addresses choice of Maasai attire in ‘Komasava' remix video

The Maasai attire is a widely recognised cultural symbol across many African countries, particularly in East Africa.

In recent days, social media has been buzzing with fans questioning why Diamond Platnumz chose to wear Maasai attire in his latest music video for Komasava remix.

The superstar, who is currently topping YouTube charts with the song, has finally addressed these inquiries, offering insight into his wardrobe decision.

In a video posted on his Instagram on August 1, Diamond Platnumz explained that the decision to shoot the video in Arusha while wearing traditional Maasai clothing was intentional.

The Maasai attire is a widely recognised cultural symbol across many African countries, particularly in East Africa.

"We were in Monduli, Arusha, and we chose this location to shoot the Komasava video during the Habari Gani party," Diamond said. "We decided to wear Maasai attire because it is popular in Swahili-speaking East African countries. We had to wear something that represents the Swahili culture."

This is not the first time that Diamond Platnumz, affectionately known as ‘Simba’ (Swahili for Lion), has donned Maasai clothing. Fans may recall that in 2021, he made a striking appearance in similar attire at the BET Awards held at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, USA.
