Bank launches offer price reductions for the holiday season campaign

Dar es Salaam. The National Bank of Commerce (NBC) has officially kicked off the second season of its vibrant campaign, “Tabasamu Tukupe Mashavu.”
The initiative is designed to create joyful opportunities for customers to celebrate the year’s end with their loved ones — encompassing family and friends — by providing enticing discounts on a variety of services and products throughout the holiday season.
As part of the campaign, NBC presents a range of prizes that include cash rewards, shopping vouchers, and discounts of up to 10 per cent on an array of social services and electronic purchases.
The highlight of the campaign is a grand prize: a luxurious four-day holiday getaway to the breathtaking Zanzibar for the fortunate winner and a companion of their choice.
The campaign’s launch event took place today at NBC’s headquarters in Dar es Salaam, drawing a diverse audience of stakeholders.
Notable attendees included representatives from partnering companies such as PUMA Energies, ABC Emperio, GSM, Johari Rotana, Bravo Coco, and Numero Uno, alongside the bank’s staff led by Business Banking Director Mr Elvis Ndunguru.
Mr Ndunguru elaborated on the campaign’s significance: “The title ‘Tabasamu Tukupe Mashavu’ embodies the true spirit of this holiday season. Here, ‘Tabasamu’ symbolizes the joy derived from seamless transactions and payments, no matter your location, while ‘Mashavu’ signifies the contentment of receiving outstanding services with added value.”
The campaign marks a continuation of NBC’s commitment to encouraging the use of formal financial systems and promoting monetary inclusion.
It enables customers to enjoy streamlined transactions with their friends and family during the festive season, all while taking advantage of discounts of up to 10 per cent on purchases across various platforms, including retail stores, supermarkets, restaurants, and online shopping venues.
“We’ve curated a plethora of exciting prizes for our customers,” Mr. Ndunguru shared. “This includes an all-expenses-paid trip to Zanzibar for the winner and their loved one, as well as the latest cutting-edge smartphones, such as the iPhone 16, awarded weekly to winners during the campaign. Additionally, customers can look forward to numerous other prizes including gift vouchers, laptops, gas cookers, cash rewards, and various surprises that will be distributed each week to those who engage in frequent transactions.”
During the event, Ms Esnat Hollela, the Bank’s Manager Cards and IMT Business, provided insight into how customers can participate in the campaign.
She noted that NBC customers must use their NBC VISA cards to carry out transactions at ATMs, agents (WAKALA), stores, fuel stations, bars, restaurants, Airbnb, travel, hotels, and for various online payment services such as Netflix and Amazon.
“The more customers utilize their cards and NBC services, the greater their chances of winning amazing prizes,” she explained.
“Additionally, NBC WAKALA and those with NBC POS machines can also enter the winning pool by increasing the number of transactions with their customers. Agents who drive transactions for NBC WAKALA Pesa services will have weekly opportunities to win as well.”
Participating companies, including PUMA Energies, ABC Emperio, GSM, Johari Rotana, Bravo Coco Beach, and Numero Uno, reaffirmed their commitment to offering price reductions on their products as part of their involvement in the campaign.
