Dar es Salaam. The body of a man, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, was found inside a Range Rover vehicle which eye witnesses said had parked for at least three days.

The vehicle which had no registration numbers, was parked at Magomeni Mapipa area which is famous for displaying second-hand cars for sale, making some people think it was also stationed to attract buyers.

Mwananchi reporter witnessed police officers and health officials removing the body which released unpleasant smell, out of the vehicle, after spending more than 30 minutes to open the vehicle doors.

Before opening the car, they sprayed chemicals to reduce the foul odor emanating from the vehicle.

After successfully opening the doors, officers saw the swollen body of a man, who was found curled up with his chest exposed, with a smartphone also found near his feet.

Eye witnesses said noone suspected anything unusual due to the nature of the location, until a bad smell began to spread.

“In the morning, everything seemed fine, but by afternoon a bad smell filled the air. We thought maybe a cat had died, as there are many cats around here,” said a Magomeni resident, Mr Hamis Hamad.

“We didn't suspect there was a person inside the car, but as time passed, we began searching for the cat. We were then shocked by flies gathering around the car, and that's when we realized there was a body inside,” Mr Hamad added.

Another resident identified as Masoud Ally remembers the car was there since Saturday when Yanga played against CBE.

“When I passed by in the morning, I didn’t smell anything but by evening the situation changed, causing concern among passersby," he said.

Police are yet to release any report concerning the body.
