President Magufuli gives Musoma hospital equipment

Musoma. President Dr John Magufuli has provided medical equipment worth more than Sh12.1 million to Musoma District in Mara Region to enable it improve health sector.
Handing over the equipment at the Nyasho health center on Thursday October 26, Musoma District Commissioner, Dr Vicent Naano, said that President Magufuli donated the equipment to honour his promise of improving health services he made shortly after he was sworn in.
The equipment donated are 50 bed sheets, 20 beds, stands as well as 20 mattresses.
Dr Naano explained that the equipment were going to be distributed at four dispensaries and two health care centers in the district.
Speaking at the event, the Nyasho health center doctor in charge, Dr Marco Mwita, said the centre has been providing services as district hospital due to lack of such facility in the District.
He said the situation has subjected the facility to challenges including shortage of workers. Explaining, he said according to health policy, district hospital was supposed to have 200 workers whilst his center has only 45 workers.
He said that they have been attending to between 100 and 125 patients per day while health policy states that district hospital is supposed to attend to an between 80 and 120 patients per day and that means they were overwhelm by the number of patients.
Speaking at the event, some residents of Musoma commended President Magufuli for the gesture noting that the equipment will go a long way to alleviate health facilities shortage in the district.
Ms Fatuma Ally said that she was optimistic that the donation was going to improve health services especially among women and children under five years as well as elders.
“These are the most affected groups in the society. They always find it difficult to get health services,” she said.
She said availability of drugs at the center has been improved and the equipment will complement the services.
