Speaking during a meeting organised by Chadema elders in Dar es Salaam, Dr Slaa said in 1960s elders joined Mwalimu Julius Nyerere to fight three enemies namely poverty, ignorance and diseases.

Dar es Salaam. Chadema Secretary General Dr Wilbrod Slaa yesterday asked the government to bring back public funds which were embezzled through the Tegeta escrow account, Epa and Richmond scandals.

Speaking during a meeting organised by Chadema elders in Dar es Salaam, Dr Slaa said in 1960s elders joined Mwalimu Julius Nyerere to fight three enemies namely poverty, ignorance and diseases.

He said, it was high time people of this country came together in the war against corruption within the government and its institutions.

“Elders supported Mwalimu Nyerere in fighting poverty, ignorance and diseases, but as we are talking today, we have another enemy who is finishing this generation, and this is corruption,” he said.

The Dar es Salaam elders met yesterday to discuss various issues including the ongoing Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) and the coming October General Election.

Dr Slaa said, the elders’ decision to meet and discuss various political matters indicated that most of them would like to witness both political and social-economic changes after the October election.

“It is obvious that you are not here for nothing, probably you would like to see major changes happening in this country,” he said.

Dr Slaa said, true and positive changes would be achieved by toppling CCM. “We all remember what happened when Mwalimu Nyerere was fighting for this country’s freedom, he received blessings from Bagamoyo elders, such spirit should continue in liberating this nation from CCM domination,” he stressed.
