Two die, four injured in Shinyanga road accident

Shinyanga. Two people have died and four others injured after a Fuso lorry and a TATA bus collided on the Tinde–Isaka main road in Nyashimbi village, Itwangi ward, Shinyanga Region.

The accident, which occurred on the evening of September 6, 2025, involved a Fuso lorry with registration number T592 EHT, driven by Rashid Manyawaza from Shinyanga to Kahama, and a TATA bus owned by Ally’s with registration number T607 EBH, driven by Samsom Sospeter from Kahama to Bariadi.

Witnesses at the scene described the aftermath as chaotic. Elisha John said he saw a large crowd gathered on the roadside.

“I did not see how the accident happened, but as I approached, many people were standing on the road. When I asked what had happened, I was told there had been an accident. I saw the vehicle overturned and people in very bad condition,” John said.

Police Commissioner for Shinyanga Region, Janeth Magomi, confirmed the fatalities and injuries, attributing the crash to negligence by the bus driver.

“It is true, the accident occurred yesterday at around 6 pm. The cause was the negligence of the TATA bus driver. Two drivers—the bus and the lorry driver—died, and four others were injured. Three have already been discharged, while one remains under treatment at the Itwangi dispensary,” Magomi said.

The injured were rushed to the local dispensary, where medical staff continue to monitor their condition. Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution on regional highways, especially during evening hours.

The incident has sparked concern among residents, with many calling for improved road safety measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
