Dar es Salaam. Kaizer Chiefs’ head coach, Nasredine Nabi, has issued a stark warning to the football community following his team’s recent defeat to Yanga SC.

Nabi, who formerly managed Yanga, described the loss as particularly painful, noting the significant margin by which his team was beaten.

“We deserved it,” he admitted, reflecting on the 4-0 drubbing his side received.

Yanga SC, fresh off their triumph in the Toyota Cup in South Africa, has been making headlines with their impressive performances.

The Tanzanian giants showcased their prowess during a recent friendly match, where they dismantled Kaizer Chiefs with a commanding 4-0 victory.

Nabi, who had just returned from a training camp in Morocco and was overseeing his first major friendly, acknowledged Yanga’s evolution.

He highlighted the challenges his young players faced against Yanga’s aggressive tactics, particularly when Yanga was pressing whenever they lost possession of the ball.

“Our team has young players who were not ready for such pressure.

Yanga’s high pressing when they didn’t have possession forced us into significant mistakes,” he said.

Nabi warned that such tactics could pose challenges for any team, both within and outside Tanzania, if not properly prepared.

Kaizer Chiefs’ striker Ranga Chivaviro, who had previously been a target for Yanga but withdrew from negotiations, also weighed in on the match.

Chivaviro, of Zimbabwean origin, described the game as a severe test. “It was difficult; Yanga didn’t give us a chance to settle when we had the ball.

Their aggressive tactics forced us into quick mistakes, which I believe was their strategy for securing such a win,” he explained.

Chivaviro, reflecting on the friendly, noted that it revealed a lot about his team’s readiness, stating that they appeared unprepared against Yanga’s high intensity.

Yanga’s recent tour concluded on a high note as they demonstrated excellent form, winning two out of three friendly matches and only suffering one defeat.

After starting with a 2-1 loss to German side FC Augsburg, Yanga bounced back by defeating TS Galaxy and Kaizer Chiefs, showcasing their scoring ability with a total of six goals over the tour.

Yanga has returned to Tanzania and will soon participate in the Mwananchi Week festival, where they plan to introduce their new players.

They will also face Zambia’s Red Arrows, the Kagame Cup 2024 champions, in a friendly match.

Yanga’s Information Officer, Ali Kamwe, announced that the team will take a short rest before continuing their preparations.

“The team will be allowed to rest, but we will keep the Toyota Cup trophy safe until it is displayed at our headquarters at Jangwani,” he said.

Promotion Officer Haji Manara also took the opportunity to urge fans to turn out in large numbers.

He encouraged supporters to fill the stadium to witness the team’s progress.
