Dar es Salaam. Simba’s investor, Mohammed “Mo” Dewji, has said that the main task of appointing a new board of directors for the club is to restore the team's status by winning trophies in the coming league seasons.

Mo has announced the six members of the board of directors representing the investor's side, who will join others from the club’s management under chairman Murtaza Mangungu.

The members are Salim “Try again” Abdallah, who was previously the board chairman before deciding to resign.

Abdallah is joined by renowned sports figures Mohamed Nassoro, also known as Mohamed Kigoma, Crescentius Magori, Hussein Kita, Zulfikar Chandoo, and Rashid Shangazi.

The members will join others from the club’s management side under the chairmanship of Murtaza Mangungu, including Asha Baraka, Rodney Chiduo, Seif Muba, Issa Masoud, and Seleman Haroub.

According to Mo, in the past three seasons, Simba have lost its glory after losing all trophies to their traditional rivals.

“The main task is to make the team perform well and return to its glorious days. We lost all trophies for the past three seasons; we want to bring back the trophies and continue to shine in the next edition of the CAF competition,” said Mo.

The board members will have the significant task of electing the board chairman according to the established procedures.

Additionally, Mo said that after long discussions, he has accepted the resignations of former board members Hamza Johari and Raphael Chegeni.

"After consulting with Johari for a long time, he requested to step down due to his work commitments; however, I have asked him to remain on the Advisory Council, and he has agreed," he said.

"Also, die-hard Simba fan Raphael Chegeni requested to step down as he is on various boards, and he has agreed to join the Advisory Council,” he said.

Simba finished third in the recently concluded Mainland Tanzania Premier League, securing a spot to represent the country in the next edition of the CAF Confederation Cup.

This is a significant blow, as records show that Simba participated in the CAF Champions League from the 2018/2019 to the 2023/2024 seasons.

In the 2017/2018 edition, the Msimbazi Street giants were eliminated by Al Masry of Egypt due to the away goal rule.

Records also indicate that in the 2021/2022 season, Simba participated in the CAF Confederation Cup playoff after being eliminated in the second round of the CAF Champions League, according to the body's rules and regulations.
