Yanga to take on Zambia’s champions Red Arrows in Mwananchi Day

Dar es Salaam.  Mainland Tanzania Champions, Young Africans (Yanga), will face off against the Council of East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA) Kagame Cup champions, Red Arrows, on August 4, 2024.

The match will be held at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium during Mwananchi Day and is scheduled to kick off at 7 pm

The Red Arrows, who are also the champions of Zambia, are set to arrive in the country one day before the match.

Yanga’s official, Haji Manara, announced that there would be a variety of entertainment to enhance the festivities of the day, which will also feature the official introduction of the new players.

The new additions to the Yanga squad include goalkeeper Abubakar Khomeiny from Fountain Gate FC, attacking midfielder Clatous Chama from Simba, left back Chadrack Boka from FC Lupopo in DR Congo, and striker Prince Dube from Azam FC.

Other notable new signings are striker Jean Baleke from TP Mazembe, midfielder Aziz Andambwile from Singida Black Stars, and attacking midfielder Duke Abuya, also from Singida Black Stars.

The new recruits join the existing lineup from last season, which includes players like Djigui Diara, Kennedy Musonda, Kouassi Attohoula Yao, Khalid Aucho, Bakari Mwamnyeto, Dickson Job, and Ibrahim “Bacca” Hamad.

Additionally, the team retains other significant players such as Stephane Aziz Ki, Djigui Diara, Kennedy Musonda, Kouassi Attohoula Yao, Khalid Aucho, Bakari Mwamnyeto, Dickson Job, Ibrahim Hamad, Mudathir Yahya, and Clement Mzize.

Farid Mussa, Salum “Sure Boy” Abubakar, Jonas Mkude, Kibwana Shomari, Shekhan Ibrahim Hamis, Aboutwalib Mshery, and Dennis Nkane also continue to be part of the squad.

Manara said that they have an intensive schedule leading up to Mwananchi Day. Yanga recently participated in pre-season matches in South Africa, where they won the Toyota Cup by defeating Kaizer Chiefs 4-0 in the inaugural event.

They also featured in the Mpumalanga International competition, where they lost 2-1 to Bundesliga side FC Augsburg but secured a 1-0 victory over South Africa’s top-flight side TS Galaxy.
