Insurance Sector donates Sh321 million to boost Zanzibar revolution celebrations

Dar es Salaam. The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (Tira) and its stakeholders have donated Sh321 million to the Second Vice President of Zanzibar, Hemed Suleiman Abdulla, as part of the insurance sector's support for the 61st Anniversary of the Zanzibar Revolution. The celebration is set to culminate on 12 January 2025 at Gombani Stadium, Pemba.
Receiving the cheque at his office in Zanzibar, Mr Abdulla expressed profound gratitude to the insurance sector, describing the contribution as both significant and highly appreciated. He assured stakeholders that the funds would be utilised as intended and encouraged the sector to maintain its dedication to progress. Furthermore, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment, through Tira, to fostering a conducive environment for insurance service providers.
“We call on insurance companies in the country to seize existing business opportunities through ongoing projects in Zanzibar. My office is ready to provide assistance where needed,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the Association of Tanzania Insurers (ATI), Mr Wilson Mnzava, CEO of CRDB Insurance Company (CIC), commended the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar for involving insurance companies in the celebrations.
“This is just the beginning. We promise to continue participating every year to ensure the insurance sector contributes to the success of these celebrations,” he said.
Mr Mnzava also urged the Zanzibar government to create more opportunities for local insurance companies to safeguard significant development projects initiated by the government and private investors.
