Dar es Salaam. Stanbic Bank Tanzania has officially launched the "Tap Kibingwa" campaign, a cashless payment initiative aimed at promoting secure, convenient, and rewarding Visa Debit Card transactions.

Running from January 10 to March 31, 2025, the campaign encourages customers to use their Visa Debit Cards for Point-of-Sale (POS) and eCommerce transactions to earn exciting prizes.

At the campaign's launch, the Head of Personal and Private Banking at Stanbic Bank, Omari Mtiga, highlighted the importance of the initiative in promoting financial empowerment.

"At Stanbic, we are committed to fostering a lifestyle of security, convenience, and rewards for our customers. The 'Tap Kibingwa' campaign reflects this commitment, aiming to empower Tanzanians with seamless cashless transactions while offering exciting rewards," Mtiga said. "We invite everyone to join us in this journey toward financial empowerment."

The campaign's prize structure offers a range of incentives, starting with monthly rewards. Customers who spend Sh2,000,000 or more within a month qualify for a draw to win Sh300,000, while those spending Sh5,000,000 or more are eligible for a chance to win Sh500,000.

The grand prize is even more enticing: customers who make at least 50 transactions totaling Sh30,000,000 or more during the campaign period will be entered into a draw to win a brand-new Suzuki Fronx and a luxurious three-day trip to Zanzibar for two.

Card Issuing Manager at Stanbic Bank, Irene Mutahibirwa, expressed excitement about the rewards and the campaign's focus on customer appreciation.

“This campaign is about more than just transactions. It’s about appreciating our customers and giving them the chance to win incredible prizes. From cash rewards to the grand prize of a brand-new Suzuki Fronx and a Zanzibar getaway, we’re excited to celebrate those embracing cashless payments with us,” Mutahibirwa stated.

The campaign also benefits from the endorsement of renowned Tanzanian rally driver Dharam Pandya, who shared his enthusiasm for the Suzuki Fronx.

"The Suzuki Fronx is not just a car; it represents excellence and adventure. It’s the perfect reward for anyone embracing the convenience of cashless transactions. I’m thrilled to be part of this campaign and witness how Stanbic is shaping the future of payments in Tanzania,” said Pandya.

While cash remains deeply embedded in Tanzania’s economy, Stanbic Bank is leading the charge in encouraging a shift toward cashless payments. Through this campaign, the bank aims to:Reduce the risks associated with carrying cash, highlight the time and cost savings of cashless transactions and provide enhanced security with PIN and Chip technology.

Many existing Visa Debit Cardholders have already attested to the convenience and security of the card, noting reduced transaction costs and the ability to access global financial systems.

With the ambitious goal of increasing card transactions by 25 percent during the campaign period, Stanbic Bank continues to demonstrate its commitment to financial inclusion and innovation in Tanzania.

The "Tap Kibingwa" campaign aligns with the bank’s broader mission to drive economic development and empower local communities, as reflected in its CSR efforts in 2024, which reached over 100,000 people.
