Dar es Salaam. More than 3,000 stakeholders expected to participate in the goat race with the aim of raising about Sh320 million for corporate social responsibility, especially in the education and health sectors.

The race organized by the Rotary Club of Oysterbay is expected to take place on September 9 this year, sponsored by the Vodacom Foundation Tanzania.

Speaking to the press yesterday, the President of the Rotary Club of Oysterbay, Mr. Abdulrahman Hussein, noted that fundraised money will grace the education and health sectors.

"In this year's race, we have planned to collect money that we will return to the community in the education and health sectors because that is where the community can have stable prosperity if it is given strength. We have been doing it all the years, but this year we will do it in a big way," he said.

The Chairperson of the Vodacom Foundation Board, Ms. Harriet Lwakatare, said that they have sponsored the race to stimulate inclusive development in society.

"We are participating in this race because the goal is to give back to the community, and we are doing this to have integrated development in different sectors in the country," said Harriet.

The project manager of the race, Mr. Paul Muhato, said last year they collected Sh246 million and helped build toilets in schools as well as rehabilitate classrooms in Dar es Salaam, while this year they are focusing more on scholarships for higher education students.

In the 2022 race, the funds we collected helped in the construction of toilets and the renovation of classrooms in some primary schools, but this year in education, we will also focus on scholarships for higher education students who are financially disadvantaged," said Mr. Muhato.
