Tanzania grants visa-free entry to Angolan tourists

Dar es Salaam. Tanzania has announced to offer visa-free entry to Angolan citizens travelling for tourism, in a move aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing economic cooperation between the two nations.
The announcement was made on Tuesday April 08, 2025 by President Samia Suluhu Hassan who is in Angola for an official visit, during a joint press briefing, following bilateral talks with the President of the Republic of Angola, Mr João Lourenço.
“I am pleased to announce the waiver of tourist visa requirements for Angolan citizens wishing to visit Tanzania,” said President Hassan, adding that the decision is expected to benefit key sectors such as travel, investment and trade.
In a further step towards deepening relations, President Hassan revealed that President Lourenço is scheduled to make a State Visit to Tanzania in July.
He is expected to officiate as guest of honour at the opening of the Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair, popularly known as Sabasaba.
The two leaders also agreed to expand cooperation in strategic sectors including mining and oil and gas, with a focus on creating employment opportunities for young people in both countries.
“Our defence forces, which were once united in the fight for liberation, have continued to enjoy strong ties, a legacy that began during our respective independence movements,” President Hassan said.
She also briefed her counterpart on Tanzania’s current political and economic landscape. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to exploring new avenues for economic collaboration.
President Hassan underscored the historical bond between the two countries, founded by the late Mwalimu Julius Nyerere and Angola’s first President, Mr António Agostinho Neto, saying it remains strong and continues to guide current diplomatic efforts.
As part of her official itinerary, President Hassan is expected to address the Angolan Parliament, becoming the first female African Head of State to do so.
She was invited by the Speaker of the Angolan Parliament, Ms Carolina Cerqueira. Her visit will conclude with a tour of the Luanda Oil Refinery.
