Dar es Salaam.Tanzania’s renowned golfer, Yasmin Chali, shone in the 2024 Mombasa Cup during the Ladies Coast Open Golf Tournament by finishing at the top in the Division A nett category.

The tournament, held at the par-71 Sea-Link Mombasa Golf Course in Mombasa County, saw Yasmin, playing off a handicap of 17, claim victory with a score of 72 nett in the thrilling event.

Mombasa’s handicap 18 golfer, Faith Muteti, finished second with a countback score of 73 nett, the same score as third-placed handicap 18 golfer, Diana Chesang, from Kitale, Kenya.

Speaking with The Citizen via telephone, Yasmin attributed her win to hard work.

“The win has come with sweat, as all golfers were targeting the same victory.

I am very happy to clinch the title and promote the name of the country beyond its borders,” said Yasmin.

Meanwhile, top Kenyan golfer Mercy Nyanchama continued her successful streak by clinching the gross category in the event.

The zero-handicap golfer completed the 18-hole tournament with a four-over-par 75 gross to be crowned the overall gross winner.
