Yanga outshine african giants in latest world IFFHS rankings

Dar es Salaam. Football giant in the country, Young Africans (Yanga), have been ranked in the top 10 on the African continent according to the latest International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) rankings.
Apart from being ranked in the top 10, the Jangwani Street giants are also ranked 165th out of the 500 clubs in the world, according to the IFFHS rankings.
The latest IFFHS rankings as of February 28 this year show that Yanga have collected 121 points, ranking them 8th in Africa.
They have managed to surpass famous clubs on the continent, such as South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns, who are ranked 9th in Africa and 180th in the world with 113.75 points, as well as Orlando Pirates, who have 111.75 points.
Orlando Pirates are ranked 10th in Africa and 183rd in the world. Other teams that Yanga have surpassed include Al Masry of Egypt, who are ranked 11th in Africa and 190th in the world with 110 points, and MC Alger of Algeria, who are ranked 12th in Africa and 200th in the world, tied with USM Alger (another Algerian side) with 107 points each.
Another Algerian side, CR Belouizdad, are ranked 13th in Africa and 202nd in the world with 106 points. Also on the list is Yanga’s traditional rival, Simba, who are ranked 222nd in the world with 97.5 points. Simba are also ranked 14th in Africa.
Other clubs include CS Constantine of Algeria with 87 points, TP Mazembe of DR Congo with 85.25 points, and Atlético Petro de Luanda of Angola with 81 points.
According to the rankings, Al Ahly of Egypt are top in Africa and ranked 32nd in the world with 247 points. The African giants are followed by another Egyptian side, Pyramids FC, who are ranked second in Africa and 60th in the world with 195 points.
Also in the list are Zamalek of Egypt, who are ranked 3rd in Africa and 66th in the world with 190 points.
Morocco’s giants, RS Berkane, are ranked 4th in Africa and 97th in the world with 155.5 points, while Esperance of Tunisia is 5th in Africa and 107th in the world with 144 points.
In 6th place in Africa are FAR Rabat of Morocco with 125 points. The team is ranked 157th in the world, while Raja Club Athletic, also from Morocco, is ranked 7th in Africa and 161st in the world with 123.75 points.
The rankings also show that Real Madrid of Spain is top in the world with 507 points, followed by Bayer 04 Leverkusen of Germany in 2nd place with 404 points, and Atalanta Bergamasca of Italy in 3rd place with 386 points.
Completing the top five are Liverpool of England with 377 points and FC Barcelona of Spain, who have 356 points so far.
